OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Technical Measurement Consultant to join our Analytics & Measurement team. This is a senior, outcome-focused role for someone who has done the hands-on implementation work and now wants to own the quality of what gets built, advise clients on their hardest technical problems, and set the standard for the engineers around them.
You will own the technical solution and technical direction for a pod of enterprise clients across the full digital analytics lifecycle: measurement (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Matomo), tag management (Google Tag Manager), privacy and consent (OneTrust, Cookiebot, CookiePro), measurement durability (server-side tagging, conversion APIs, Google tag gateway) and data enrichment (Enhanced Conversions, offline data import, CRM integrations).
You will still implement. This is a hands-on role, and you will take on the complex builds, integrations and troubleshooting in your pod yourself. What sets it apart from an implementation role is what else you own: the technical strategy for your pod's clients, consulting with clients on the outcomes they need, and the quality standards every piece of technical work is held to.
You are accountable for four things: technical delivery to enterprise-grade standards, data quality and hygiene (including cookie consent), technical sign-off as the pod's final quality gate, and setting the benchmark that guides the engineers in your pod. Nothing technical ships to a client without your approval, and the data our clients act on is your responsibility.
You will act as a trusted technical advisor to client developers, IT and data teams, and work closely with our Head of Solution Design, Solutions Architects, Strategic Leads and Analytics Engineers.
WHERE THE ROLE SITS
Our consulting team works in pods. A pod is a small, stable, cross-functional team that owns a group of enterprise clients end to end, from strategy and solution design through to implementation, QA and ongoing data health. Every enterprise client is served by a pod with four named owners: a Strategic Lead, a Solutions Architect, a Technical Measurement Consultant and a Program Manager, supported by Analytics Engineers who carry out most of the implementation work.
Pods run on Scrum. Work is planned in sprints, prioritised in a shared backlog, and reviewed in sprint reviews and retrospectives. The Technical Measurement Consultant is one of the pod's technical delivery leads, alongside the Solutions Architect, and is the technical voice in sprint planning: scoping work before it enters the sprint, briefing engineers on the approach, and signing off what gets released at the end of it.
In short: the Strategic Lead owns where the client is going, the Solutions Architect owns what we build and why, and the Technical Consultant owns whether it is built right and the data can be trusted.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead technical conversations with clients on their more difficult challenges, and act as the trusted advisor to their developers, IT and data teams.
- Join discovery and scoping for all new work in your pod to provide an upfront technical check: feasibility, effort, dependencies, client-side access and development needs.
- Review solution designs for technical feasibility and risk before they go to the client, and set expectations early with clear technical scope and risk notes.
- Create technical specifications and dataLayer blueprints for enterprise measurement solutions.
- Take on the complex builds yourself: bespoke integrations, API work, server-side tagging, consent architecture and troubleshooting where the fix is not obvious.
- Brief Analytics Engineers on the approach before work starts, unblock complex issues and review work in progress.
- Act as the final technical QA and sign-off on all technical delivery in your pod, reviewing the QA implementers do on their own work and QAing larger or more complex deliverables hands-on.
- Maintain a technical health note for each client (tracking, consent, data quality, technical debt) and provide maintenance plans for everything we build, so quality continues after handoff.
- Set and maintain implementation standards, QA checklists and sign-off processes, and share recurring issues with the wider technical team so the standard rises over time.
- Coach engineers in your pod to broaden their skills beyond tag implementation into analysis and reporting.
- Flag technical growth opportunities (server-side tagging, consent, BigQuery, BI, data enrichment) to the Solutions Architect and Strategic Lead, and contribute technical priorities and capacity needs to quarterly planning.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders in a way that is digestible and actionable.
Mindset and motivation
- Consulting first. You start by understanding the problem and the outcome the client needs, then design the technical answer. You are comfortable saying what will not work and why.
- Deep technical skill. The kind that draws on several complementary technologies to solve problems that do not have a documented answer.
- Ownership. You keep work moving and treat it as your mission to deliver world-class solutions, rather than pushing tickets along.
- Attention to detail. QA and validation go well beyond ticking a box. You hold work to the client's expectations and the solution design, not just to whether it fires.
- Risk awareness. Every solution carries overhead or risk. You name it, mitigate it and leave a maintenance plan behind.
- Generosity with knowledge. You raise the level of the people around you and take pride in their work as well as your own.
Platform and technical expertise
Essential
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical engineering experience with the Google stack, with a track record of enterprise-grade delivery.
- Google Marketing Platform subject matter expert, with deep Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager implementation experience.
- Solution-oriented technical design across the GMP stack, including the ability to scope, estimate and de-risk work before it starts.
- Measurement durability: server-side tagging, conversion APIs, Google tag gateway, Enhanced Conversions and offline data import.
- Privacy and consent platforms (OneTrust, Cookiebot, CookiePro) and consent mode architecture.
- Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and the ability to read and debug other people's code.
- BigQuery and Google Cloud, with solid SQL.
- Experience working with APIs across marketing, MarTech and advertising platforms.
- Working knowledge of advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads and LinkedIn.
- Experience reviewing and quality-assuring technical work produced by others, not only your own.
Desirable
- Non-Google measurement and tag management: Adobe Analytics, Adobe Launch, Tealium, Matomo.
- Python, and software development experience (for example PHP or .NET).
- CRM and customer data platforms: HubSpot, Salesforce, Mixpanel, Segment.
- Looker Studio or other BI tooling.
- Experience setting technical standards or running QA processes in a consultancy or agency environment.
